The reason for this is simple.Human rights, good governance, democracy, sustainable development and the alleviation of poverty are interwoven and all center on the welfare of mankind. Hence the talk of human-centred development.

But corruption makes a mockery of all these. So the fight against corruption is a fight for development, and the promotion of good governance is a key factor in international development co-operation.
